Today is Day One….

life holisticAt 43 years old, I have decided to go on a journey that will most likely rock me to the very core of my being, exposing everything that is wrong…while at the same time, producing diligence, peace, patience, and satisfaction with my inner self as well as my life.

Today is the first day of my ‘holistic approach to life’ — That’s what I’ve decided to call it.

Over the years I’ve floated in and out of a form of Christianity…I’ve also at other times, attempted to become more physically fit… Yet, on completely separate occasions I’ve dabbled in the reality that I must certainly be (partially at least), a being of my own creation. Whatever I allow into by brain, either by reading, blankly staring at the television, or through my own misguided and undisciplined conversations, are ALL a part of who I am. Like a lump of clay being formed by the Potter, I have allowed myself through years of reckless abandon, to become the person who I am today.

Finally, I have come to the conclusion that life works holistically… There is a delicate balance that must be carefully maintained in order to achieve the type of life and peace that is truly fulfilling. I’m no spiritual guru…far from it. But nonetheless, today is DAY ONE.

FOOD:

Today I have started to carefully watch and plan what I put in my body because FOOD IS FUEL and important for proper mental functions, attitudes, energy levels and overall health.

MENTAL INPUT AND THOUGHTS:

As much as it is important to follow religious beliefs, it is equally important to take full responsibility for what goes INTO my brain. Just as FOOD IS FUEL, everything and anything can be considered MENTAL FUEL or MENTAL POLLUTION. Therefore I am making a conscious effort to not only be at peace with myself, but to take responsibility for what I expose myself to. More on that later.

EXERCISE:

P90X extreme workout program starts today. I still have to get the chin up bar and the resistance bands. I’ll be running up to the store in a bit for those. Right now I have purchased the P90X DVD set and have an understanding of the three levels of meal plans (Fat Shredder is the one I’m on first). Go to Fit Club Network for an easy and thorough understanding of the meal plans and caloric intake, explained by a triathlete AND a first grade teacher, lol. There are also 3 word documents on this page for you to print out that basically act as your grocery shopping list along with an entire spreadsheet where you can chart your daily intake of carbs, protein, veggies, etc. Don’t worry, it’s NOT complicated. Go there and see!

I’ll also be adding my own information on all of this. This is the list of everything you will need if you’d like to start P90X as well:

  • P90X 13 DVD set
  • Exercise or Yoga mat
  • Resistance Bands
  • Doorway Chin-up bar
  • Free weights
  • Proper Foods for your meals
  • Whey Protein (with Creatine) for Muscle Repair Shakes

Are you ready? Are you ready to change everything about your life? It’s one thing to get a “beach body.” It’s another thing altogether to “get a life.” The latter is what I’m looking for.

Self-Discipline, Commitment, Mental and Emotional Peace, Stability, Clear Mental Function, Low Stress, and Life Fulfillment….. Let’s go!

…Life, a holistic approach.

Good for you, Robin! I am inspired…I need to be inspired since I joined the gym and so far the only thing I’ve noticed is a decrease in my bank account each month. Commitment is so hard sometimes!

Can’t wait to see your progress!
